McConnell & Son Trucking is a family-owned business with a long and successful history of providing dry bulk transport services for those we are privileged to call customers.
H. E. McConnell Trucking began in 1931 as a transport service hauling coal in Aliquippa, PA. The company later moved to Poteau, OK in 1948 to service a major contract it had secured with S. E. Evan’s Coal Company in Bokoshe, OK. H.E. McConnell II and wife, Susie, eventually relocated the company to North Little Rock in 1959 to meet the needs of highway construction contracts in Central Arkansas.
It wasn’t long before the hard work paid off and H.E. McConnell & Son, Inc. became a dependable resource in the state, hauling for various construction companies contracted to work on major interstates throughout Arkansas, including work on the Arkansas River’s Lock and Dam.
By the mid-1960s, McConnell & Son had begun hauling fertilizer, lime, crushed stone, and sand in dump and dry bulk trailers. From 1969 to 1979, the company also worked with the Ohio River Company hauling Bauxite Ore from the Little Rock Port to Reynolds Metal Company.
For nearly a century, McConnell & Son has continued to build on its solid reputation as a versatile dry bulk transportation company with nimble availability and utter dependability. And while much has changed in the world since the company began in the early 1900s, one thing remains the same: you can still count on McConnell & Son to get it done right — and right on time.
Now in its third generation of leadership, H.E. “Hugh” McConnell III and wife, Erin, keep the legacy of dedication moving forward, living out the words of Hugh’s Grandfather and company founder:
“Do one thing and do it extremely well.”
